Occupation: student/paperboy Base of Operations: Fawcett City Marital Status: Single Known Relatives: Unknown Group Affiliation: Young Justice Height: 5'7 Weight: 115lbs Age: 16 Eyes: Blue Hair: Black First Appearance: Whiz #24 (December 1941),
Captain Marvel, Jr. is really disabled newsboy Freddy Freeman. While out fishing, Freddy and his grandfather were attacked by the evil Captain Nazi (with a name like Captain Nazi, you sorta can't help but be evil). Captain Marvel showed up just a little too late to save the day; Freddy's grandfather was killed and Freddy himself was near death. Feeling just a tinge of remorse, Cap brought Freddy to the wizard Shazam and asked if there wasn't something that could be done to help Freddy. Shazam prescribed a jolt of the ol' magic lightning. When Freddy awoke, he exclaimed, "Why... it's Captain Marvel!" Zap! By saying the name of his hero, Freddy became Captain Marvel, Jr. (and curiously, the only superhero on record who can't say his own name without switching identities). Freddy's costume is similar to Captain Marvel's, except that his costume is blue, instead of red. Captain Marvel Junior first appeared in Whiz #24 (December 1941), following the tremendous success of Captain Marvel. After initial popularity, interest in Captain Marvel Junior waned and faded in April 1953 and was not revived until 20 years later, when the entire Marvel Family was brought back into publication. As of issue #37 of the current series, Captain Marvel Junior has renamed himself "CM3" - a name that he can actually pronounce. MC3's power levels depend on if he has sole access to the source of his powers that he shares with Captian Marvel and Mary Marvel. (Example) If two of them were in their superhuman forms, each of them would have "half" of the power of Zeus and the other abilities.
